About This Coffee
The Engagi Natural AA is grown on the agricultural lands surrounding the designated UNESCO-World Heritage Bwindi Impentrable Forest, known to be some of the most fertile volcanic soils in the world.
This micro lot is named Engagi, meaning "gorilla" which stems from the local Rukiga language spoken in and around the Bwindi community, near the endangered mountain gorillas conservation area.
There are two terms unique to Ugandan coffees: Wugar (washed Ugandan Arabica) and Drugar (dried Ugandan Arabica).
The Engagi AA is a high altitude grown coffee processed with the natural processing method. This means that our approach toward roasting this coffee begins with a higher charge temperature followed by slower application of heat throughout the roasting process as natural processed beans are more delicate and sensitive to heat. The coffee is roasted to a medium roast level to enhance sweetness and preserve its original fruity characteristics.
It is truly balanced but with sweetness of prune and raisin. Medium acidity that sparkles with dried pineapple and lychee notes. Engagi AA is juicy and has a pleasant dark chocolate finish.
